ABBA and me

Have you ever heard that song by Abba called "Dancing Queen"? Anyway, there's something about being 17 years old in there.... which is the reason I'm posting. I am officially 17, as of the month of November. (Cannot let the actual date slip out!)

I got some really nice black boots for my birthday! Well, actually I stood in line for over an hour to get them, but I didn't pay for them with my money. These boots were on sale on Black Friday - as I had been hoping they would be - so I convinced Mom to get them as a birthday present. As I said, they're really nice boots: probably a three-inch heel, and the top is just below my knee. Dad calls them "go-go" boots. I really like them. :-)

Grandma and Grandpa (set one) gave me some hairthings (purple, of course) and some bath things; set two gave me money with which I renewed my AAA membership. Very nice!

Oh yes, I finally finished The Farm. Had some good description, but it was very sloooooooowww.... like molasses draining out of a quart jar.

I've submitted applications to two colleges, and written half the essays for a third. Aren't you proud of me? :-P

NOOOO....It's by Louis Bromfield.
Animal Farm is Orwell's.

Yeah... I have a feeling that Orwell's Animal Farm would have been much more interesting, since my sis read both that and 1984 and said it was the better of the two...

Huh, haven't read Brave New World. But I don't normally read sci-fi (or whatever genre that would fall under); my diet consists mostly of..... schoolbooks and romances? Particularly Jane Austen's... :-)

She's read 1984 and The Visitation.
(I think she's read the last one any way)

Yeah, I've actually read 1984, but not Animal Farm, so I really can't compare the two. I didn't like Visitation though.... it seemed to drag or something (which is totally odd for Peretti books!).

Sci-fi.. futuristic... whatever. Socialist nightmares would describe 'em better.

Heh, most guys don't prefer P&P. But it's probably the best "romance" you'll read.

Huh.... all I remember from Visitation is that it jumped around a whole lot, and seemed to add in a lot of extra stuff... I guess it simply didn't appeal to me. I liked The Prophet better.

Yes, I do like that type of romance (it seems to be at least somewhat rational!). But P&P also equals amusement. Ever catch the irony and mockery in there? (Especially when concerning Mrs. Bennett....)

Yeah, I guess they do. But P&P is a bit different.

Okay, I'll stop making you feel ignorant. :-P

sure, I don't care. Even though I understand about nil. :-P
