Yikes!

I sat down earlier to write a blog post, and nothing came to mind, so I decided not to (again).

Then I did homework, contemplated how little time I have left here (less than 5 weeks till we board the plane), and watch a Simpsons movie on TV.

And then I logged onto Facebook. And saw that one of my good friends just got engaged.

She's younger than I am!!

It happens...I know people younger than me who are married...

And scarier still is the idea of Sam getting enaged... O:)

lol but that's only in theory! My friend is so engaged she actually has a ring. :P

da-baum, you make me smile. being old now i suspect many people my age or younger are getting married. it doesn't phase me much anymore.

Not surprising. Some frequently get engaged in college, and there are lots that don't. I think that some folks go to college to look for a mate!

yes, d-b and I went to the same private Christian college with such grand traditions of coupling, or "ring by spring." I remember when I went to schedule classes for the first time they mentioned maybe meeting your future spouse, and I thought "uh, I'm not here for that at all."

not just at private colleges...one of the 4-H kids went to a state school for the express purpose of getting a "MRS" degree (in the words of the county extension agent).

Oh yes, "ring by spring" is known on my campus as well (as I think I've mentioned). I do know some people went to college to find a spouse... although I'm not sure the culture on my campus is quite as bad as that, tt....

Oh really, sis? Do I know this gal?

lol, my college's culture wasn't that bad either. most of the people in my class or of graduating classes didn't acquire a ring on top of the tuition expenses and college debt. it just was an example.

ah ok. I was gonna say, the ring-by-spring isn't quite that ingrained into our faculty and staff! In fact I know one prof (whom I respect a lot) who's complained about gals quitting college in order to get married. He things they are wasting good talent. :P (Or so I've heard. I wasn't actually there when he said whatever it was to that effect.)

Yes you do know the person I'm referring to, but you probably didn't know that's why she said she was going to college.

Ah. This wouldn't be her younger daughter would it?

No it would not. It's one of the not so smart CARTEENS instructors(who is now out of 4-H).
